Justin Bieber (@JustinBieber) with 33,844,822 followers on Twitter, surpasses Lady Gaga's (@LadyGaga) 33,701,297

Young Canadian singer, Justin Bieber who seems in every way, except for musical talent, just like a Michael Jackson of his generation, has for long been trailing American Pop star, Lady Gaga, on Twitter as the second most followed celebrity.

However, in the past couple of hours, Justin's "beliebers", as his mainly teenage fans prefer to be called, rallied behind him on Twitter, to get him to the number one spot. This makes Bieber not only the most followed celebrity on Twitter, but of any individual or corporation on Twitter, including Twitter (@Twitter) itself which, at the time of this report, had 16,032,459.

More in-depth reasons for this "takeover" may be the sheer exuberance of Bieber's youthful followers (which exuberance was very exceedingly exceeded early in the year through their "Cut For Bieber Campaign), compared to Gaga's a bit less gaga fans, or perhaps his more frequent appearances in the entertainment circuit, unlike Lady Gaga who's been more engaged in recent months, with charity work for various multi-national organizations  Most likely however, is the fact that Justin Bieber's "Rate Of Engagement" with his follower on Twitter is far higher than that of Lady Gaga. Their total number of tweets are 20,697 and 2620 respectively. Personally, I'd say it's the toning down of Lady Gaga's wardrobe, from the more edible ensembles she became popular with.

The margin of Twitter followers between the two celebrities may be quite slim to say for sure that this lead will last for long, but for now, we can safely say, on Twitter, Justin Bieber rules!
