The Visual Concert is an exhibition of the finest art pieces
guaranteed to make art lovers weep with joy. It combines works from prolific
artists and alumni from the University of Lagos Art School. It embodies the versatility
of art styles and embraces the African culture as well as western, varying from
one artist to the next. The vibrant colours draws you in and its unique form
ranging from paintings to sculpture to mixed media and even textile designs
embellishes the high level of skill and creativity of these prolific artists.
The Visual Concert takes off on the 8th of
December and runs till the 15th, at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, 3
Lekki road, VI Lagos. On the opening day, it starts at 6pm and is open to all
art lovers. Access is free, and every one is welcome to enjoy the exhibition.
The Visual Art Concert is powered by the Alumni of the Visual art, Creative
Arts department of the University of Lagos.
Amongst the artists exhibiting is a painter, Stacey Ejiro
Okparavero, whose works depict the beautiful African culture, from where she
was born, which is rich in colour, tradition and style
In her varied and diverse approach to making art, the
content of her work reflects her love for nature and tradition.
Her work ranges from the simple experiences in the everyday
life, to breathtaking land and seascapes, and expressions of the faces of
subjects caught off guard. She reveals the power of language and poetry through
painting, expressing emotion through the fluidity of brush strokes, and subject
matter.
Her work takes on various forms and styles, intended to
capture a larger audience and draw the viewer in, to witness, create new
unpredictable cycles of thought and provide an experimental chance to challenge
ones perceptions, beliefs and assumptions.
