I got a ring up from my girl last week, asking me to come check out some new music she's been working on. Goldie knows above all else, I'm a sucker for new music. I've never given up the opportunity to listen to studio-fresh tracks. Besides, I love hanging out with Goldie. She lives that plush life that I wish for every Nigerian artist.
I meet up with her and Uba Ugochukwu, of Anuba Couture at Goldie's in ParkView Estate Ikoyi. As much as I fancy the designs those two were coming up with, N100,000 is not the kind of cash I'd part with for an article of clothing right about this period in my lifetime.
I hit the PLAY button on the CD player, and some Ibo music starts to play. Nice melody, great rhythm, but that's not what I came for. Goldie says she's working on a new 12 track album project which will feature top artistes from 12 different countries in Africa, and that track I was listening to, would be the first single off the album. So I'm back to the track, "Give It To Me", which features J Martin. I'm liking this.
"Give It To Me", "Miliki" (featuring Navio from Uganda), and "Skibobo" (with Tanzanian rapper A.Y) make up "The Naughty Singles" which will be released on 22-11-12, soon as she's back from the Channel O Music Awards in South Africa. I'm impressed, sadly though, I wasn't allowed to rip the tracks, so I'll have to wait till the release date like everybody else before I can upload them here. But for now, I still remember some few lines "If you want, you can have it, all you gotta do is GIVE IT TO ME".
