Heineken, Shaken, Not Stirred: IS THAT 007 DRINKING BEER?!

When in 1953, Ian Fleming created the James Bond character code-named 007, not a few noticed a semblance between the fictional character, and the writer who himself had been a British intelligence officer during World war 2. The nights at the casino, love of golfing, a way with women, these were all part of a lifestyle the writer shared with the character he brought to us.

50 years, 6 actors, and 22 Bond movies later, we've seen a lot change. The missions, the bond girls, the guns, cars, watches, and finally, in the 23rd installation of the franchise, James Bond will be giving up his trademark vodka "Martini, shaken, not stirred", simply asking the bartender for a bottle of Heineken instead.

Why?! 45 million reasons I tell ya! MGM got a cheque from the world's number one lager brand which covered a third of all production costs for Skyfall. Despite the barrage of criticisms, including from one of the past bonds, George Lazenby (whom you don't remember playing James Bond anyway), the producers however, believe Commander Bond's choice is what's best for the franchise.

Skyfall premieres in Nigeria tomorrow, Friday, 2nd November in various cinemas around the country, with sponsorship from Heineken. Go out, see the movie, let's meet back here for a review. See the Skyfall trailer below to help get your mind ready for Bond, James Bond.
